The
original creation was very different than what we see today. There was a layer
of water or ice above the atmosphere. “And God made the
firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament
from the waters which were above the firmament (where the birds fly. V. 21) : and it
was so.” Genesis 1:7 There was also a layer a water
under the earth’s crust. “The earth is the
LORD’s, … For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.”
